I've been pinching myself and asking if this truly is for real! Indeed, Texas Rangers fans this is the real deal. The Houston Astros were a worthy opponent to get to the World Series. However, be careful what you say, it can bite you in the end. Let's look at some of the motivation that lead the Rangers to the 2023 World Series.
The first thing that motivated this team: The loss of the AL West the last day of the season! This had to be the biggest motivation for a team that had spent so much time in first place in the AL West. But, remember I said be careful what you say: IN the Astros locker room Bregman a fixture in the Astros organization said: We celebrate championships here in Houston! Well how did that age for you Bregman? Now you are sitting at home sulking thinking about what could have been. While Houston earned that AL West title thanks to a second half that showed the Rangers lose first place twice. The Texas Rangers showed "resiliency" something they have been showing all season long. From the start of the season they have showed it on multiple fronts.
The second thing that motivated this team: Game 5 loss! This one was a HUGE gut punch to a team that had the game sealed. Adolis Garcia hits a 3 run home run and then energizes his team and the Rangers crowd(some saw it as showboating, especially Astros fans, some even came at Rangers fans saying NO ASTROS have ever showboated). The next time up, Bobby Abreu a reliever in the Astros bullpen first pitch of the at bat drills Garcia in the side. Whether this was done on purpose or not is beside the fact, but it did indeed, create a rivalry that will be ignited for years to come. There was a benches clearing brawl and there was some ejections. Altuve hits a 3 run homerun and the Astros win 5-4. Remember the be careful what you say part? Well, Astros players said: they just woke a "sleeping giant". Little did they know the giant that was woke: was in the other dugout! How did that work for y'all? Adolis Garcia ONLY goes back to Minute Maid park and SHUTS Houston Astros fans and sends the Astros fans in Game 7 bolting for the door by the 7th inning.
The third and final thing that motivated this team: the national media! Folks this is the spitting image of the 2010 Texas Rangers. They were down and out at every corner and no one in the national media gave them their credit for making it to the playoffs until they made it to the World Series(and they still couldn't do it). Same thing this year! I get the championship goes through Houston, but it's the days after, I beg to differ it does indeed now go through Texas. It's time to give credit were credit is due: Chris Young built this team, the owners actually opened their pocketbook, and the Rangers showed up when they needed to show up.
All in all, this was probably one of the most nerve wrecking seasons in the history of the Texas Rangers! Now that the Rangers have been motivated. It is indeed: Time to #GoAndTakeIt.
