Good morning and Happy New Year Wacky Wednesday Wisdom followers. I trust that all of you had a happy and safe holiday season and are ready to get back into the swing of things. With that being said, it is time for me to get back into the swing of Wacky Wednesday Wisdom actually being posted on a Wednesday. Today's big topic we will discuss the Dallas Cowboys hiring of Mike McCarthy and the truth about Jason Garrett.

First things first, let's look at some of the smokescreen stories that have been out there about Jason Garrett and the Dallas Cowboys. One of those stories is that it took Jerry Jones over a week to "part ways" with Jason Garrett because he was looking at him being the GM of the Dallas Cowboys. LOL! This is the silliest story out there that even the non-Cowboys fans could see right through. Ultimately, this team chose to go in a different direction and I am sure it was not that of Jerry Jones doing but a little voice on his shoulder that inevitably leaned him in another direction. Now for the other false report out there and that is that Jason Garrett has been fired. Sorry to upset you Cowboys folks but if he was "fired" teams would not have to still be asking for permission to interview him. You see reports are that the NY Giants requested and was granted permission to interview Jason, however, if you are "fired" as fans would think you wouldn't need that permission would you? Simply put, Jason Garrett has NOT been fired and the Cowboys chose to use the words "part ways" because technically the Cowboys in respect to Jason Garrett are letting his contract lapse. Also, for a coach that was so highly touted by his previous employer wouldn't you think more teams would be calling on his services already? This is why if you wait till next Wednesday when his contract truly is expired you will see more teams will be calling on his services whether that be offensive coordinator or head coach duties.
Finally onto the biggest news in Cowboys land since well dinosaurs roamed the earth. OK! It hasn't been that long but it has been two decades since the Cowboys were legitimate contenders. The Cowboys hire Mike McCarthy as the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys and he has already been filling out his staff as he has hired: Mike Nolan as the defensive coordinator and John "Bones" Fassel as the special teams coordinator. Let's get something straight though: this by all means was a Stephen Jones hire and NOT a Jerry Jones hire. This so much looks like the Leighton being drafted thing all over again. For folks who did not know JJ didn't want to draft Leighton at all during the draft and had his sights on some offensive players. Even stating at times that Sean Lee was fine and that they did not need to draft a MLB. Well upon much consideration and a little voice in this ear(Stephen Jones) the Cowboys opted to draft Leighton and when he is healthy has been a carbon image of JJ Watt. So much to be said about this hire. What does Mike McCarthy bring to the table? What he brings is a coach who spent his whole last season out of football trying to re-invent himself. He promises to bring more in the way of analytics to the Cowboys. He also brings a fire and a passion that the Cowboys have NOT seen since Jimmy Johnson. Why hire Mike McCarthy? Like I said this is a Stephen Jones hire, because Stephen has seen the Cowboys be mediocre at best for over a decade he says hey this is going to be my team Dad let's try something new. You could see this in Jerry Jones demeanor in Week 16 after the loss to the Eagles. Jerry Jones came out and said that things have to change in the football operations even in the day to day operations for this team to get back to were they once were. Can you say little birdie? What won't Mike McCarthy take? He won't take excuses from his players and will hold them accountable in all facets of the game and in life. Will he be Jimmy Johnson disciplinarian 2.0? Only time will tell, but if you are a Cowboys fan you have to be liking what you see in the direction of the Cowboys as of now. Record next year? TBH, if they get off to a 3-0 start I can assure you they won't be 8-8 next season. My guess is 11-5 but only time will tell.
Well that is this weeks installment of Wacky Wednesday Wisdom. As you can see, the Dallas Cowboys usher in the new and are out with the old. Will this be an improvement on the past? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure Mike McCarthy is wasting no time in getting this team legit again.
