Wacky Wednesday Wisdom

Good morning and Happy Wacky Wednesday Y'all! Today is going to be somewhat special as you are going to get double the Wacky Wednesday Wisdom Topics in one Wacky Wednesday. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week we will forego next weeks Wacky Wednesday Wisdom and just double up today. Does this sound fair?

First topic I would like to discuss is the selfishness that is continually going around in sports. Yes as a sports show host and someone you can hear on Lime City Radio Network I still think most sports players are selfish. This is a problem that has been going on for years and years and really won't ever go away. With sports agents looking to line their pockets even more from year to year this won't go away soon. The most selfish thing in sports is the sitting out of players because as they see it they don't get what they want. The latest is that of Colin Kaepernick who has been the most selfish of players over the last two years. Most of you know who he is if not let me explain. He is a former NFL quarterback who kneeled during the National Anthem to show that he is united with those who are continually bullied by law enforcement officers and personnel. Well the latest in the selfishness of this saga is he was going to hold tryouts for interested NFL teams and their scouts at the Atlanta Falcons facility. However, instead he calls an audible the hour before the tryouts to move it to a local high school about an hour away forcing media and NFL scouts to scramble and have to either attend or not attend. In all of this, Colin Kaepernick claims he is just trying to be "transparent". This is his problem and his problem all along it really has NOTHING to do with him "kneeling". In this case, it is all about hey look at me, I am who I am and will do what I want and I really don't give a flying rats terd what anyone thinks. He pulled this stunt because he is selfish and continues to be selfish, that is indeed why he still doesn't have a contract and won't EVER get a contract with an NFL team. If you care to look at a blog I did about 2 years ago feel free titled: United We Stand. This brings to light more of this and what happened.

Wacky Wednesday Wisdom Part 2

To the next topic at hand: Your Sports questions my sports wisdom(or lack thereof)!

Who are your top 3 NFL teams this week? Madelyn H. Springfield IL

This is a wonderful question and if I had to pick only 3 top teams this past week by performance it would not necessarily reflect the records. However, in this case, I am certain you want to know by record.

Top 3: New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Green Bay Packers

What are your thoughts on the college football playoff system? Raymond B. Tucson, AR

Compared to what it used to be it is a little better, but still has plenty of bias as you can see in this weeks latest top 25 rankings. Does the strength of schedule always determine how good a team can be? NO! What about points for or against? NO! The committee still as much as it hates to admit it still looks at the scores and bases the rankings about 30 percent on those scores. I have said this all along before this playoff system and will say that if you want less bickering and whining in college football you do it solely on the record. Imagine if this was the case this season or any for that matter teams that NEVER had a shot would get a chance to shine. However, as long as money is involved they being the committee is going to push for teams that boost tv ratings and sell more merchandise.

Who will spend the most money in baseball free agency? Who will they sign? For how much? Frank P. Denver CO

This is an excellent question, however, with teams having to worry about the luxury tax some that were big market players are NOT going to be near as playful in the market as before. For instance, the Boston Red Sox will instead look to shed payroll to get under the luxury tax and in this case probably won't be big free agent spenders. If I had to pick more than one I would say the biggest spenders in free agency would be these three teams: Los Angeles Angels signing Gerritt Cole to a 8 year 240 million dollar deal with incentives to opt in at year 9. The next big spender is going to be the Washington Nationals who will sign Strasburg to a 8 year and 240-250 million dollar deal. Last will be the Texas Rangers spending more on a third baseman of the future Anthony Rendon to 8 year 240 million dollar deal with many incentives to add more years.

Did the Houston Astros really cheat? Bradley C. San Antonio TX

With 4 former Astros players that were on the 2017 World Series team all coming forward and giving names as to how it was done and by whom it was done by. All indications point to yes, however, let's wait and see what MLB decides in this regard. Don't want to beat a "dead horse".

What are some of your fondest sports memories? Morgan S. London, England

Wow! This is a tough one so many sports memories and it depends if you are referring to attended or just witnessed on tv. So I will do my best to give you both. I have two fond memories of attended games that I can really say are the best. One being the first extra inning baseball game I attended in what used to be "Arlington Stadium". It was I believe either a 12 or 13 inning game that lasted till the wee hours of the morning if I recall right it was like 12:45 a.m. when the game was over we got home at like 1:30 a.m. The other was attending the ALDS game 5 I believe in 1996 for the Texas Rangers. My first playoff experience and man was it intense. The other two not attended but fond sports memories are both Nolan Ryan related and that was his 5,000 strikeout game and then the other was his big fight with Robin Ventura.

Well that is this weeks double edition of Wacky Wednesday Wisdom for you all! Remember you can hear me on Lime City Radio Network every Wednesday night from 5-5:30 Central time. Keep them questions coming until next Wacky Wednesday Wisdom. See you soon on the radio!
