Wacky Wednesday Wisdom

So after game 6 of the World Series and all the dust settling from the fiasco we call runner interference. I am bringing to you today what I call Wacky Wednesday Wisdom. In this blog, I am going to part my Wacky Wednesday Wisdom on the art of "showboating" and by not allowing this could this speed up the game of baseball? Furthermore, are apologies good enough?

Happy Wacky Wednesday y'all! Furthermore, happy game 7 of the World Series thanks to that of the Hall of Fame pitcher but NOT elite pitcher Justin Verlander(0-6 in World Series games, but I digress and will save that for later). What I really want to talk about today in Wacky Wednesday Wisdom is the art of "showboating" in sports in this case in particular baseball. For those of you that have been living under a rock or just don't care anything about the World Series and you are wondering: Jimmy The K what the fiddle faddle are you talking about? Let me explain or better yet let this video explain what happened?

It was the bottom of the first inning when Bregman delivered a blow to the Nationals and Stephen Strasburg. Then later in the game the Nationals Juan Soto in an effort to send a message does the same thing. Here's the question that I have and many of you that have followed this blog know I am NOT a fan of "showboating" at all. I don't care what team you are it just shows how selfish and arrogant you are when you do something like that. This has been going on for some time now and MLB needs to crack down on it because if you truly want to speed up the game of baseball then this is one of the top ways you can do it. Why one might ask? Because it is a proven fact that batters much like pitchers can tell by the sound of the bat that the ball is going to leave the ballpark. There is absolutely no reason in watching a ball for 10 seconds hitting your chest and then smirking at the dugout and the models trying to flash you to get a point across for a cause. Let's think about this for a bit. If a batter can tell by the sound of the bat he knows he hit the ball why can't said batter just drop the bat and try to make it around the bases as quickly as possible? There is NO rhyme nor reason to the act of showboating.

Let's look at one more aspect to this: are apologies enough? I absolutely think they are not good enough. The apologies often times more times than not are done when the national media is crucifying you for doing it and the cameras are rolling. Apologies are only good if it doesn't happen again right? You ask for forgiveness and then a month later you do it again are you truly sorry? Sure I just forgot! Nice excuse young'in but I can use that excuse being 40 years old and NOT some over-hyped 21,22,23, or 24 year old. It's time that if Major League baseball wants to speed up the game then they need to crack down on it and sooner rather than later. If they can have rules that even former players have a hard time interpreting then they can crack down on some of this over-the-top showboating they allow teams to get away with.

With all of that said that is today's Wacky Wednesday Wisdom. What are your thoughts on the art of "showboating"? Could you see the MLB cracking down on it to speed up the game? What are your thoughts?

This depending on the demand could become a weekly or monthly thing. What are your thoughts on Wacky Wednesday Wisdom? Would you like more? Would you like to have your questions answered?
