Let it be known that believe it or not once Paul George was traded I knew it was a matter of time before OKC Thunder long man Russell Westbrook would ask for a trade. Little did I know he would go to the most obnoxious city in the United States. No I am not referring to the Miami Heat, the New York Knicks, or the Boston Celtics. Yes I am referring to the team that traded for him the Houston Rockets. Of course, I went there yes Houston is considered in my eyes one of the most obnoxious cities in the United States. Let's look at the trade and see how Houston really is the most obnoxious cities in the United States.
First off let's look at what the Thunder got in return for Russell Westbrook and it was almost the same as what they got for Paul George. The trade looks like this: Houston gets: Russell Westbrook and the Thunder gets: Chris Paul, first round picks in 2024 and 2026, and pick swaps in 2021 and 2026. Yes you read that right the Thunder got basically 5 for the price of one. Now you include what they got for Paul George and in just those two trades they got 14 for just two players. This is what Presti is great at! He is great finding gems when it comes to the draft and those gems shine. Now are they going to keep Chris Paul? Absolutely not! Presti will use him as a draft decoy as well. What do I mean? He is going to look for at least 3 draft picks and one young player for him. So sit tight Presti will soon line his pocketbook with more picks.
Second, why is Houston considered one of the most obnoxious cities in the United States? Let's look at just a few examples: they win one World Series and lump themselves in with the likes of the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, and Atlanta Braves. They get Russell Westbrook and think they will win a championship(in this, Houston is one good player away from possibly challenging the Golden State Warriors). Now I am not knocking every Houston sports fan out there because I know some very passionate Houston sports fans(yes there is a difference between obnoxious and passionate). However, yes I am knocking those obnoxious fans the ones who now think the Houston Rockets are now with the gods of the NBA. Yes, you got Westbrook and that will push you farther than what you were even last year, but let's not rub it in.
In conclusion, with all of these trades and more to come for the OKC Thunder it is going to just be a matter of time until they compete again. All in all one thing is for sure: and the Thunder Rolls. Now just waiting for these trades to work out so that the lightning will strike.
