In light of the NBA Finals and all the dumb memes going around I think it is time to bring to light the real damage you do when you post something so outlandish as these. Many see this post and first they will assume you are just crying because the Thunder lost in the NBA Western Conference Finals(don't assume because you know what that means?). So why should we NOT compare current players with past players? Top 3 reasons are as follows:
1) You do a disservice to those players and you make a complete knot-head out of yourself(I wanted to use something else however I'll refrain from name-calling). I've seen the most common meme all year long is LeBron with Michael Jordan's face photo shopped and him crying while the defender of the other team is smirking. First off, LeBron has as I've always said is the closest thing to Jordan playing in this era. Not because he cries his way to the Finals but because his numbers are the closest to that of Michael Jordan. However, I know that Jordan/James comparison of this era is NOT fair. The style of play is different(I'll explain that more later). What service do we do comparing past to present players? ABSOLUTELY NONE! By the way here are Jordan/LeBron stats listed below:
Michael Jordan: 41,011 minutes; 12,192 FGM/24,537 FGA; Rebounds: 1,668 offensive, 5,004 defensive; 32,292 points
LeBron James: 38,478 minutes; 9,687 FGM/19,458 FGA; Rebounds: 1,192 offensive, Total 7,067; 26,833 points
2) This generation of basketball is entirely different from the style of the past. The style of old use to be more of a small ball play and NOT solely 3 point and beyond as some teams are doing now. The generation of old was more of a passing and find your open man style and not none of this ballhog style of play that you see from players like Kobe Bryant. Again what does this comparing past players to present players do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
3) Coaching has changed over the years! This seems to be the biggest issue Phil Jackson's style of play no longer is required. While more and more teams are modeling themselves after the Golden State Warriors who are mainly a 3 shooting team. Kerr is taking this too light knowing that he has the two highest three point shooters in the game Curry/Thompson. This seems to be the coaching of this era as you shoot the three's until you practically murder the other team. However, this is this generation's style of play and teams are going to take notice of this and put Golden State to task. Now let me ask you this? Would it be fair to compare Draymond Green to Kendrick Perkins? No it would not! While the style of play maybe close to the same it does NOTHING to compare past players with present players. Curry's stats are below:

Now tell me Curry/Thompson ARE NOT predominantly a 3 point shooters?!
In conclusion, I can see at least some of the masses complaining that I am crying about the Thunder losing in the Western Conference Finals and my prediction was wrong. This is NOT the case if you think that so be it that's your preragative. However, go back and view last week's show! I am pretty sure that I admitted more times than one I was wrong. What I am trying to do is bring to light the damage these things do and believe me you might think they are funny but sometimes they are just not. Here's my question to you? Would you tell LeBron or any of these players that to their face? I guarantee you NOT!
