Probably most importantly his numbers were just not up to par over the last several years(again a testament to what drugs and alcohol can do to your body): Let's take a look at his numbers going back to the iconic MLB year of 2010:
2010: 133 Games played; 518 at bats; 186 hits; 32 homeruns; 100 runs batted in
2011: 121 Games played; 487 at bats; 145 hits; 25 homeruns; 94 runs batted in
2012: 148 Games played; 562 at bats; 160 hits; 43 homeruns; 128 runs batted in
2013: 151 Games played; 576 at bats; 144 hits; 21 homeruns; 79 runs batted in
2014: 89 Games played; 338 at bats; 89 hits; 10 homeruns; 44 runs batted in
2015: 50 Games played; 170 at bats; 43 hits; 8 homeruns; 25 runs batted in
So what can the Texas Rangers do in the time that it will take them to get Josh Hamilton back? Well, first things first it was previously reported by MLBTradeRumors yesterday and later confirmed that the Rangers will sign veteran Drew Stubbs to a minor league contract. Also, it was reported that they have been in contact with the agent of Ian Desmond to possibly play left field for them. However, at this time the Rangers are reluctant to give up the first round pick in the lottery that they hold.
With the rise of fall of the once great Josh Hamilton we can now see that the Rangers just need to do what they can to support him as they did in 2010-2012 and know that it is a disease that he will face for the rest of his life. So here's what the Texas Rangers need to do: 1) Let his knee heal(you spent practically NOTHING to get him from the Angels...they're still paying). 2) Give him all the love and support you can so that his train does NOT go off the rails as it has done many times before. 3) Prepare for the worse and hope for the best. Being said, what are your thoughts on the rise and fall of Josh Hamilton?
