Behind all the glitz and glamour of this NFL Playoff season already we now know who the final two teams standing in the AFC and NFC are. The Carolina Panthers and Cam Newton will look to hoist the Superbowl trophy for the first time in franchise history. While the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning will look to get the defeat of 2 years ago out of their mouths. Let's take a look at the stats for these two quarterbacks and look into a preview of Superbowl 50.
1) Peyton Manning- 2 games, 38/69, 55.1% completion rating, 398 yards, 2 touchdowns and 0 interceptions.
2) Cam Newton- 2 games, 35/50, 70% completion rating, 496 yards, 3 touchdowns and 1 interception.
Superbowl 50 will feature two absolutely different quarterbacks in nature. Peyton Manning is now a pocket passer that can avoid the sack if given the opportunity to avoid it. However, Cam Newton is one that can make a play no matter the situation. The numbers during the postseason look awfully close but what could be an advantage for the Panthers is the youth of the young and talented Cam Newton. Peyton Manning on the other hand has been in the big show multiple times and knows how to mentally prepare for a big game of this magnitude.
The difference maker- This game is going to be highlighted by the two defenses and how dominate they can be. With the Panthers you have the very loud mouth and sometimes annoying Josh Norman who will reak havoc on the Broncos receivers. If you look on the Broncos side however you have DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller who have both been a nightmare for opposing teams.
Problems- Now for the fun part of this whole Superbowl now. On one side you have Cam Newton complaining people don't like him because he is "black". He now has his radio God Stephen A. Smith coming to his rescue as usual if it has anything to do with the trail of tears, the 1950's. or Rosa Parks for that matter. Unfortunately, it is nothing more than a ratings game for his "pathetic" of a radio program. I'm not going to lie I understand there is still a prejudice in this country but to think that we have gone nowhere since the 1950's is naive on one's part. I hate to break it to you people it isn't race that has people complaining about Newton's celebrating in the end zone. It has EVERYTHING to do with the way he acts. I recognize a great athlete when I see one: Cam Newton, Jackie Robinson, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, Troy Aikman, Bill Bates, Tom Brady, Russell Wilson and the list goes on and on. It is NOT because of race I do NOT like a player but however because the way a player conducts themselves on and off the field. This will do nothing but get inside the heads of the Panthers players and could very well cost them the Superbowl.
On the Denver Broncos side you have a quarterback that supposedly had HGH delivered to his house under his wife's name. Peyton Manning has ferociously denied this and has NOT brought this up since the playoffs have started. This is the poise of a quarterback that does not want any distractions during the big week as he goes to win the Superbowl and go out on top. Again, I will reiterate I am a firm believer Manning would not have done any type of drugs like this as it would ruin his reputation not only as a player but in the community he so continues to love.
While I have looked at the two quarterbacks, the difference makers, and the problems going into Superbowl 50 it will indeed be very fun to watch. I honestly at this time am going with the Broncos to win the Superbowl not only for Manning to go out on top but for the great defensive player in DeMarcus Ware to get his first ring(handing it to Jerry Jones). At first I really was going with the Panthers, however, with the mind games that Cam Newton thinks he is playing with the "race" card I can't see him winning the Superbowl and honestly I think Ware/Miller and the Broncos defense will humble Cam Newton and the rest of the arrogance of the Carolina Panthers. So for Superbowl 50 I'm going with the Denver Broncos in a close Superbowl matchup: 13-10.
